"How to Fish" by Chris Yates (reviewed by William)

It was never going to be easy for Chris Yates not to cover some old ground at this point, after such books as “Casting at the sun” & “The secret carp” and the rest of his magnificent back catalogue of thought evoking and descriptive writing. Reason being, when you don’t write how to books in the usual sense, and have a very simple approach as Chris does to his angling, then you can run out of steam so to speak, as there’s no following of trends or updates in tackle and such. And after all you can only describe the seasons and the art of tea making so many times before it gets a little stale.

But “How to fish” has interesting and refreshingly different target species, and is of course pepped with Yatesisums. Once again a book for angler and the non angler alike, a charming and pretty little book. And as with all Chris’s books gets read far too fast, leaving you with thirst for more, and reaching for your thermos of tea and rod & line. I would however love to see Chris’s Yates tackle the crucian carp in the similar fashion to “How to fish”. So if you read this Chris - you have a request.
